On October 10, 2026, AHP will host a hybrid luncheon event commemorating the 350th anniversary of Bacon’s Rebellion, a seminal event in American history. In the 17th and 18th centuries, Jamestown colonist Nathaniel Bacon was revered as a great leader of a citizens’ movement for freedom. Thomas Jefferson lauded him. A plaque in the Virginia State Capitol calls him “A Great Patriot Leader of the Virginia People who died defending their rights.” He has gone down in history as the leader of “Bacon’s Rebellion,” considered by some historians to be America’s First Revolution.” Who was this man, and what was Bacon’s Rebellion all about?
