April 5, 2025: “The Shot Heard Round the World”: the 250th Anniversary of the Battle of Lexington and Concord
On April 5, 2025 President Jay Dickey will be speaking to the Cascade Centennial chapter of the Washington State Sons of the American Revolution, located in Bellevue, Washington. In April 2025, we will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the battle of Lexington & Concord, the battle that started our American Revolution. Jay’s talk will cover the key events leading up to the battle, and how the battle triggered a massive uprising throughout the 13 colonies. He’ll also discuss the colorful story of the formation of the Second Continental Congress the following month, and the appointment of George Washington as Commander-in-Chief of the newly-formed Continental Army. Jay himself has several ancestors who were “Minutemen,” and who answered the alarm and rushed to Concord when the shooting started. Jay will share a few anecdotes about the brave farmers and merchants who took up arms against the most powerful army in the world. More details on this event will be announced in early 2025.
